Large Acer Platanoides Drummondi Variegated Norway Maple 275/300cm 8/10 Girth 25 Litre: Acer Drummondi a beautiful variegated leaved Norway maple. As the name suggests originating from Norway this is an extremely hardy robust tree that can handle all the English weather has to offer. This large quick growing tree starts the year bright orange foliage quickly matures to green with creamy variegated margins, autumn colour traditional yellow and burnt orange. The tree as expected also provides plenty of yellow flower clusters in spring, it makes a fantastic tree for spring, summer and autumn interest. Main picture taken in December.

How quickly does this tree grow?

Its never easy to give exact timescales as it can depend on climate, soil, aftercare etc, full maturity can take 20 plus years.

Any advice regarding planting?

Norway Maples are not to demanding and have no special needs when planting try adding a top-dress of a multi-purpose fertiliser around the base of the plant in late spring. Pruning is not required, just remove any dead, damaged or crossing branches in late autumn or winter when the tree is fully dormant.

Are Acer Platanoides have to be in acid soil like Acer Palmatum?

No Norway maples, whilst part of the Acer family are not to fussy about actual soil type, the do grow best when situated in a fertile, moist well drained situation.
