Large Established plants 175/200cm above the pot. A quick growing Phyllostachys Bamboo with striking yellow and green striped stems. Quick to establish and requiring very little care or maintenance, apart from lots of water during hot dry periods this is particularly important if planted in a pot or container, do not let the roots dry out! Spectabilis is perfect for sunny spot in well drained moist soil away from strong winds, if planted in a good spot it can in circumstances reach heights upto 7 metres with a 3 metre spread, if ground planting you may want to consider planting in a container or a rhizome barrier to restrict the spread.

Bamboo Phyllostachys Aureosulcata Spectabilis 15 Litre: Also known as "Yellow Groove Bamboo" is spectacular. Its colours are reversed from the species, i.e., it has bright yellow culms with a green sulcus. It is one of the hardiest bamboo with yellow and green striped colour pattern. Spectabilis is a vigorous grower and rather rare. Like the other forms of the species, this bamboo makes an excellent hedge or screen due to its fast, upright growth. When grown in a sunny location, the new culms have a spectacular red highlight in the spring and early summer.

What to expect: Your plant will arrive in a 18 litre pot height will be approximately 175/200cm.

 

Planting Position: Although suitable for a wide range of areas these plants are best suited to a sunny position where the suns rays can help the colour of the canes develop.

Soil: Any free draining damp soil is suitable but away from waterlogged areas.

Suitable for container planting: Yes ideal for both ground and container if in the pot will need to be re-potted periodically.

Although Bamboo is a very versatile plant it grows best in well areated soil that is light in structure and rich in organic nutrients, ideally it should have good drainage but still retain some moisture. To promote growth and to help with keeping your plant looking lush and green feed with a general purpose organic liquid food during the growing season. If planted in a pot ensure an adequate water supply at all times. This plant need has no special requirements during the winter months.
