Bamboo Semi Arundinaria Fastuosa 10 Litre 150/175cm: Also known as Narihira Bamboo. This is an excellent Bamboo if you are looking for height and structure in your garden but are limited for space. This is a very well behaved plant which is tight clumping and quick to mature. The new canes of this bamboo variety emerge pure green they grow vertically, as straight as arrows, maturing to a shade of purple. This plant distinguishes from the Phyllostachys species by producing more branches per node over the years. Due to its behaviour we have heard this plant being referred to as the 'Noble Bamboo'. Unlike other Phyllostachys varieties there is no need to use a rhizome barrier.

Planting Position: Equally happy in full sun through to semi shade away from exposed windy sites.

Soil: Like most Bamboo Semi Arundinaria is highly adaptable, for best results ensure a moist well drained area. Happy in Alkaline through to Acid

Suitable for container planting: Most definitely. Due to its compactness and upright structure this Bamboo makes an excellent choice for pot planting, looks fabulous if you’re looking to add height and structure to a patio or balcony design

Eventual Height and Spread: In the UK it can and often does reach 5 metres tall with a 2.5 metres spread. In terms of spreading this is an extremely well behaved Phyllostachys

Bamboo Growth Speed: A relatively quick growing Bamboo, with 3 - 4 new culms per year, the new ones are always taller than the old.

Flowering Period: Not applicable.

Pruning: Not necessary.

Evergreen: Yes

Winter Hardy: Yes suitable for the coldest parts of the UK to -20.

This Bamboo has no specific requirements, use a general purpose fertiliser during the growing season ideally something with a high nitrogen content to promote new growth, and always ensure an adequate water supply. It has no specific requirements during winter.
