Hydrangea Endless Summer 'The Original' Blue: Large 15 Litre Plants: As the name suggests, Endless Summer comes with a consistently long flowering period, from spring to autumn, year after year. The Original, is predominately a blue flowering variety, but this will depend on soil type, if planted in alkaline soil the flowers will be more pinky red, but can be anywhere in between, more information on how to keep blue can be found in the care and maintenance tab below. Endless Summer Hydrangea have been specifically bred to provide more flowers and a longer flowering period, they are easily maintained and hardy to minus 30. They are ideal for pots or borders can reach heights upto approximately 1.5 metres with a similar spread.

Current stock whilst lovely big plants are not a pure blue but lie somewhere between bLUe and pink, please see pictures 2, 3, 4 and 5 which are current stock taken 27/7/2021. If you want darker or more blue they will need to go into acid soil or ericaceous compost

Endless Summer ;'The Original' is as we have already said is predominantly a blue flowering variety, however this is dependant of acid levels in the soil, blue Hydrangea like acid soil rather than alkaline. To keep flowers blue, you need to keep acid levels high, if pot planting we recommend using ericaceous compost, if ground planting you should consider adding sulphate of iron to the planting area this should be done annually in spring when new growth is beginning to appear. Alternatively there is now Hydrangea colourant available, which is pretty much the same thing as sulphate of iron. Endless Summer Hydrangea are easy to care for in spring after the final frosts have passed apply a slow release fertiliser, and prune just above new growth, pruning below new growth will result in less flowers. Summer months try to water consistently and keep the soil moist, do not allow to dry out. In Autumn do not be tempted to prune or fertilise the plant should be left until spring.

When should I prune back my Hydrangea:

We suggest waiting until Febrary/March when the frosts have gone.    The dead flower heads will protect the plant over the winter months.    When the frosts have finished cut it back by approximately a quarter and remove any weak or frost damaged shoots to the healthy wood.
