Prunus Kanzan 1/2 Standard, Stem 90/100cm 25 Litre: Prunus Kanzan, commonly known as the Kanzan Cherry or Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan,' is a stunning flowering tree that belongs to the Rosaceae family. It is highly regarded for its abundant and vibrant pink double blossoms, which create a captivating display in the spring.

This deciduous tree is known for its upright, vase-shaped form and can reach a height of around 10m, with a spread of around 8m. The Kanzan Cherry tree's branches are gracefully cascading, creating a beautiful silhouette even when not in bloom.

The most striking feature of Prunus Kanzan is its profusion of large, double flowers. The blossoms emerge in early spring, typically in clusters, covering the tree in masses of pink flowers.

In addition to its stunning blossoms, the Kanzan Cherry tree also offers attractive foliage. The leaves are green and serrated, adding texture to the tree's overall appearance. In the fall, the leaves turn a beautiful bronze colour before dropping, providing a lovely autumnal display.

Caring for Prunus Kanzan involves providing it with full sun to partial shade and well-draining soil. Regular watering, especially during dry periods, is important for its overall health and vitality. Pruning is typically done in late winter or early spring to maintain its shape and promote healthy growth.

Prunus Kanzan is a popular choice for landscaping and gardens, as it serves as a focal point and adds a touch of elegance and beauty. Its stunning blossoms and attractive form make it a favourite among those seeking a visually striking tree. It is often planted in avenues, parks, and other open spaces where its blossoms can be fully appreciated.

Kanzan, a virtually maintenance free plant, always keep well watered whilst becoming established any winter damaged foliage can be removed at will, pruning is not necessary.

Q: When do these plants flower?

A: It depends on winter weather, in years where winter weather is classed as normal it will be approximately April.

Q: Are the suitable for pots in the long term?

A: Not really, certainly ok for a few years but in the long term ground planting would be beneficial.

Q: How long do the flowers last for?

A: Again it depends on the weather, because they flower so early in the season and the weather in April can sometimes unfortunately be somewhat unpredictable its hard to be exact, however you can on average expect flowering spells to last 3 to 4 weeks.
