Magnolia Black Tulip 80/100cm 10 Litre: One of the best coloured flowering Magnolia Trees, Black Tulip produces lots of huge, upto 15cm diamter, dark purple flowers. It flowers consistently from a young age, and grows to a large specimen tree. By Magnolia standards Black tulip is a relatively early flowering variety, typically March through April but in warmers areas and after mild winters, it can be earlier.
Whilst Magnolia will grow in almost all soils they prefer acidic, if you suspect your planting area has a high lime content we recommend adding some ericaceous compost and peat to the planting hole this will help raise acid, in exceptional circumstances sprinkling sulphate of iron in Autumn to the surrounding compost will raise acid even further. Plant in full sun through to light shade in free draining soil that does not get waterlogged. Once planted, established Magnolia do not like to be relocated.
