A weeping tree that has dark green foliage during summer months. Whilst Salix are deciduous trees this particular variety gives plenty of winter interest, it is one of the first plants in the garden to come to life after the dormant months, in very early spring or late winter in warmer areas the long branches are covered in masses of buds, when open they cover the bare branches in golden catkins.
These Salix Trees require minimal pruning, however if you choose they can be cut back quite hard. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter and shorten any overly long shoots. When ground planting soak rootball well and incorporate lots of well-rotted compost in the planting hole.
Branches can be removed for flower arranging in late winter through to early spring.
