Rhododendron Marcel Menard Established Plants Litre pot: Marcel Menard a relatively compact growing reaching heights at maturity of around 1.5 metres with a similar spread. Originating from France in the early 1900s, Marcel Menard has a proven track record with very little maintenance it produces masses of deep purple flowers in late May to June. Rhododendron are an easily maintained plant that require no pruning. Rhododendron are lime hating plants, lime soil stunts growth and prevents flowering. To ensure a good growing and flowering plant only plant in acid soil or ericaceous compost in full sun or light partial shade.
Always ensure Rhododendron are planted in acid soil, they will not do well in lime soil. To keep acid levels high try adding sulphate of iron to the planting area this will keep acid levels high.
