Quick Overview

Pieris Japonica Katsura is a cultivar of the Pieris Japonica, also know as Japanese Andromeda or Lily of the Valley shrub.  This variety is a broadleaf evergreen shrub known for its striking foliage and seasonal colour changes.

In Spring the young leaves of the Katsura emerge with a vibrant reddish-bronze colour before transitioning to a dark green as they mature.  The leaves have a leathery texture and are glossy, making them an attractive addition to the landscape year-round.

The Katsure produces clusters of small bell-shaped white/pinkish flowers in early Spring which resemble the classic Pieris Japonica, with a Lily of the Valley appearance.  These flowers can be fragrant, adding an additional sensory element to the garden.
