Winter Hardy UK Palms Trees - Trachycarpus Fortunei 100/120cm Trunk: Also known as Chusan Plam or Chinese Windmill Palm. Palm trees are now classed as an almost essential for modern looking UK gardens, in years gone by keen gardeners used to have to keep there fingers crossed hoping that the winter would be kind to them, well with these Trachycarpus your worries are over! These palm trees will sit out all winter long and will cope with -15 without blinking, they will look just as good during the cold wet months when the rest of the garden is struggling as they do during the summer. They are happy planted virtually anywhere in the garden in moist well drained soil in full sun through to partial shade, exposed windy sites are best avoided, whilst wind does not actually damage the plant but it can shred the leaves making it look very untidy. When picking a planting spot keep in mind if these trees are happy they will grow 30cm plus a year and achieve a considerable size with a mature height of upto 12 metres with a 2.5 metre spread. They can be pot planted whilst it remains a manageable size but we would recommend ground planting as the plant matures.
What to expect: Your plant will arrive planted in a huge 70 Litre pot, trunk is minimum 100cm, total plant height is approximately 175/200cm. Whilst no two plants are exactly alike the plant in the picture in summer 2020 stock so your plant will look similar.
