Large Hydrangea Magical Four Seasons 'Coral Blue' Established 5 Litre Plants. Hydrangea Macrophylla 'Magical' is a visual feast in a pot on the patio, in the border or in a vase indoors. The flowers are compact and colours develop beautifully. If the magical ‘Revolution Blue’ ‘Blue’ is happy in the garden the colour of the flowers will change during the flowering season it will transform from a hydrangea with bright colours into a plant with magnificent Autumnal tones it. Coral Blue starts the season pale green, then a deeper shade of green/purple then a beautiful bluey/Lilac before its final change to dark autumnal green. The Magical Range cope well with rain, sun and frost.
What to expect: Your plants will arrive planted in a large 5 Litre Pot and will have an actual plant size of approximately 60cm. It will depending on the time of year purchased look just like the picture, which was taken mid – June on our own nursery
Planting position: Best planted in a lightly shaded warm spot, never close to a tree. Tree roots are the dominant force and will deprive your hydrangea of the nutrition it needs

Soil: Happy in all soil types excluding heavy clay

Winter Hardy: Yes for the whole UK, copes well with rain, wind and moderate to Frost. Severe frosts will not be fatal it may damage the buds this will almost certainly result in smaller flowers, whilst this isnt relevant to plants that are going to live in the south it may be advisable to wrap in a winter fleece in the colder parts of the Uk
Evergreen: No Deciduous
Pruning: If the hydrangea is growing in a warm climate you should prune the plant immediately after the flowering period. If the climate is somewhat cooler, the plant is best pruned in the spring, just before it comes into flower. But there is really no need to prune the Magical hydrangea at all!
The Magical hydrangea does not like having dry roots. The plant needs watering regularly, both in a pot and in the soil during warm periods. You should thereby try to keep the flowers dry. And make sure that the soil drains well.
Did you know that the blue hydrangea derives its colour partly from the soil composition? The flowers will only turn blue if the plant is in acid soil and aluminium sulphate or potassium alum has been added. If you would like to retain the attractive shades of blue colouring every year, you should scatter the soil with aluminium sulphate or potassium alum in the first half of September. Ensure that the sulphate is not poured onto the foliage or flowers.
When should I prune back my Hydrangea:
We suggest waiting until Febrary/March when the frosts have gone. The dead flower heads will protect the plant over the winter months. When the frosts have finished cut it back by approximately a quarter and remove any weak or frost damaged shoots to the healthy wood.
