Hydrangea Magical Coral Pink 3.5 Litres: The plant forms part of the beautiful Hydrangea Magical Colours range which currently consists of 10 varieties. This variety is the Magical Coral Pink.  Coral pink starts the season pale to mid green, it then develops pale pink this is followed by deep pink, before finally a wonderful dark green in autumn.  Plants are reliably hardy and easily maintained, full details of which can be found below in our care and maintenance tabs. Flower can also be cut and placed a vase for an interior flower display, they have excellent vase life. They flower annually on new wood so will always give you a magical display, from year one.

What to expect: Your purchase will arrive planted in a 3.5 litre decorative pot. The first two pictures were taken on the nursery mid March 2016, new season growth is appearing, your plant will look just  like it or bigger depending on the time of year purchased. The 3rd picture was taken when the plant is in flower changing from its original green to pale pink

Planting position: Best planted in a lightly shaded warm spot, never close to a tree. Tree roots are the dominant force and will deprive your hydrangea of the nutrition it needs

Suitable for container planting: Yes a great choice

Soil: Happy in all soil types excluding heavy clay

Eventual Height and spread: 100cm x 100cm at maturity

Flowering Period; Mid to late May through to November

Winter Hardy: Yes for the whole UK, copes well with rain, wind and moderate frost. Severe frosts will not be fatal it may damage the buds this will almost certainly result in smaller flowers, whilst this isnt relevant to plants that are going to live in the south it may be advisable to wrap in a winter fleece in the colder parts of the Uk

Evergreen: No Deciduous

Pruning: If the hydrangea is growing in a warm climate you should prune the plant immediately after the flowering period. If the climate is somewhat cooler, the plant is best pruned in the spring, cut back to approximately 2 to 3 cms above a strong pair of buds.

The Magical hydrangea does not like having dry roots. The plant needs watering regularly, both in a pot and in the soil during warm periods. You should thereby try when possible to keep the flowers dry. And make sure that the soil drains well.

Did you know that the blue hydrangea plants derive there colour partly from the soil composition? The flowers will only turn blue if the plant is in acid soil and aluminium sulphate or potassium alum has been added. If you would like to retain the attractive blue colour every year, you should scatter the soil with aluminium sulphate or potassium alum in the first half of September. Ensure that the sulphate is not poured onto the foliage or flowers
