Elaeagnus Ebbingei Viveleg' 9 Litre: Viveleg an easy to grow evergreen shrub, similar in looks to the more common varieties of Gilt Edge and Limelight, however the look of Viveleg is slightly more dramatic the green is significantly darker so it makes the gold edging appear much brighter. Viveleg grows more upright and vigourously and can become quite dense so a good choice as a boundary plant or a stand alone specimen, reaching heights at maturity of upto 8ft.

What to expect  Your plant will arrive planted in a 9 litre/30 cm pot. It will have an actual plant height excluding the pot of approximately 80-100cm, exactly like the pictures.

Planting position: Viveleg is hardy, they can be planted in full sun through to light shade. They are drought tolerant (when fully grown) so adaptable to all environments.

Soil: Ideally well drained soils although will tolerate both sandy and clay soils if not waterlogged.

Soil ph - Acidic, Neutral and alkaline.

Suitable for container planting: Yes most definitely. As the plant has fabulous fragrant flowers it is a perfect addition to your patio. Keep in mind, if pot planted, they will need to be repotted approximately every 3 years in larger pots and fresh compost.

Eventual Height and spread: Can reach an ultimate height and spread of 2.5-4 metres

Pruning: Larger shrubs generally require little pruning, except for removing dead or damages leaves. Ideally prune just before the growing season starts in mid spring (after the frost has gone) so you do not remove the flowers/buds. If it is used as a hedge then can be trimmed to remove any out of place branches to keep its overall shape. If all green leaves appear, prune out the branch to keep the variegated leaf.

Growth Speed: relatively fast growing

Flowering period: Autumn and winter

Foliage: Dark green leaves with a beautiful margin of yellow

Evergreen: Yes

Winter hardy: Yes

The Elaeagnus is a durable shrub and tolerant of most soil conditions as long as it is well drained. The full sun is preferred but not essential and it is drought tolerant. Keep the long branches in check to keep the overall bushy appearance.
