Photinia Fraseri Red Robin 1/2 Standard 20 Litre Pot: Standard Photinia Plants presented with a clear stem of around 80/90cm, head size is approximately 40cm. The Standard Photinia Red Robin is a fabulous, all your round addition to your garden or outside space.   With the young foliage appearing a vibrant red in Spring and an abundance of white flowers in April/May it is a beautiful evergreen tree.   The glossy green leaves have spectacular red tips which make it a fantastic feature for your garden.

The photinia is perfect for the UK as it can tolerate temperatures down to -12c  and, if left unpruned produce masses of white flowers. It is happy in most soil types except heavy clay and more suited to dry conditions rather than waterlogged ground.

When planting the Red Robin in is better to pick a full sun or partial shade area as it is not suited to full shade. Although we generally advise planting in Spring or Autumn the Red Robin can be planted at any time of the year as long as the conditions are not frozen.

Photinia are an easily maintained quick growing plant. They grow best in fertile, moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade in a sheltered position. The young shoots can become scorched by cold or drying winds and late frosts if grown in an exposed position, but they will soon bounce back. Photinia is tolerant of most soils, even clay as long as it has been improved by incorporating well-rotted compost or manure.

Q; Do i need to prune these plants?

A: In ideal circumstances yes, they can with withstand heavy pruning but we prefer a liitle and often, if not kept in check two or three times a year they can become untidy and difficult to retain the shape.

Q: Apart from pruning do they need anything else?

A: They do not really need anything but like all plants they will appreciate some tlc, fresh compost and some slow release fertiliser goes a long way to keeping thm happy.

Q: If pot planted can they stay out all winter?

A: Yes these plants are fully hardy so apart from the extreme north they will be absoluterly fine.

Q: How big do the grow?

A: These Photinia have been trained into standard for so the stems will not grow any taller the heads will of course get bigger and the stem will thicken with age, but from a height point of view you will notice very little difference.

Q: Are they delivered just like the pictures in brown Deco pots?

A: Yes.
