Trough grown instant hedging has been grown in a 1 metre long trough. The beauty of buying hedging in a trough is the plants have been trimmed regularly through the growing season, to allow a hedging unit to form. Not only do the plants knit together but so do the roots, which makes for a healthy hedge with a great success rate once planted.
Not only is success rate far greater compared to bare root plants, but also trough hedging is generally 2 or 3 years more established, so what you are paying for is time.
As each trough is a metre long, when it comes to purchasing trough hedging it couldn’t be simpler. You just work out how many metres you need and order that many troughs. Unlike buying individual plants where you need to work out how many plants per metre or how close to plant them, and then still having to wait for them to fill out and make a full hedge.
Planting is very quick and easy saving time. All you need to do is dig a trench slightly larger than the trough, remove the hedge from the trough, drop it in, then drop the next one in and so on, and then back fill and you have an instant hedge.
Trough hedging can be planted at any time of year, although Autumn to Spring is the best time to plant.
Feed still within in the growing media will give nutrients to the plants well into the next growing season, for continued strong growth.
