They are happy planted almost anywhere in the garden in moist well drained soil in full sun through to partial shade, exposed windy sites should be avoided, winds do not actually damage the plant but it can shred the leaves making it look very untidy, when picking a planting spot keep in mind if these trees are happy they will grow 30cm plus a year and achieve a considerable size with a mature height of upto 12 metres with a 2.5 metre spread. They can be pot planted whilst it remains a manageable size but we would recommend ground planting as the plant matures.
