Lavender Stoechas Dark Purple Large 3 Litre Plants. Also known as French Lavender. Lavender Dark Purple an impressive relatively new variety of French lavender, stems are upright up to 60cm tall (2ft) and narrow, very aromatic grey-green leaves. Flowerheads are huge, plentiful and densely packed with tiny purple flowers, topped with deep lilac wings. The blooms are very attractive to bees and butterflies and will be buzzing with life throughout summer. A drought tolerant plant, perfect for hot, dry situations. Plant in full sun through to a lightly shaded area. Look fantastic planted on mass to create a border or in pots.

Lavandula stoechas cultivars start flowering in May, and these only want regular deadheading – removing each of the big knobbly dead flowers complete with a short stalk as soon as they go over, but leaving the rest of the plant untouched. That way, they’ll keep flowering right through the summer and on into early autumn.
Lavender are a fantastic choice for containers and pots choose 6-8in wide pot with plenty of holes in the base so that excess water doesn’t become a problem, lavender do not like to be to wet. Put a handful of gravel in the bottom for extra drainage then fill with a mixture of John Innes No 2 potting compost and about 10 per cent bark chippings or gravel for aeration.
