Acer Negundo XL Single Stem 16/18 Girth 300cm+ 90 Litre Pot: Acer Negundo, commonly known and often referred to a as the Box Elder or Manitoba Maple, it is a deciduous tree native to North America. It belongs to the maple family (Aceraceae) and is known for its fast growth rate and adaptability to various environmental conditions.

The Acer Negundo tree is a medium-sized tree that can grow up to approximately 10/12m in height with a spread of 9/10m. It has a rounded, spreading canopy with multiple branches. The trunk is relatively short and can develop a rough, scaly texture as the tree ages.

The leaves of the Acer Negundo are compound and composed of 3-7 leaflets. Each leaflet is elongated and serrated along the edges. The leaf colour is a medium to dark green. In the autumn, the leaves turn yellow before dropping from the tree.

The bark of the Acer Negundo tree is greyish-brown and develops shallow furrows and ridges as it matures. Younger trees may have smoother bark, which becomes rougher and more textured as the tree ages.

Negundo trees produce small, inconspicuous flowers in the spring. The flowers are greenish-yellow and are arranged in clusters or panicles. These flowers are not particularly showy or ornamental.

After the flowers, the Acer negundo tree produces winged seeds known as samaras. The samaras are paired and have a distinctive "helicopter" shape, which allows them to be easily dispersed by the wind. The seeds are light brown in colour and are typically produced in large quantities.

The Acer negundo tree provides several benefits. It can provide shade and serve as a windbreak due to its spreading canopy. The tree is also known for its ability to stabilise soil and prevent erosion, it is relatively low-maintenance and does not require extensive care. It is tolerant of various soil types and can withstand brief periods of drought.
