Acer Palmatum Metamorphosa Large Established Plants Acer Palmatum Metamorphosa or also known as Metamorphasis is a brand new introduction, first showcased at Chelsea 2018, where it was RHS plant of the year finalist. Bred under licence in the Netherlands by one of our super Acer growers, Metamorphosa is sure to be a big hit in the coming years. The plants start the year with yellow spring leaves, as pictured in March ringed with a reddish-pink edge before gradually turning light green. The edges then fade to light pink before becoming green with a white edge. In late summer the leaves turn to orange-red before becoming red-violet in the autumn. Grown under strict licence by one grower only our good friend and supplier of lots of our beautiful Acers Jos Van Meuwen.

I believe this plant has been referred to as Metamorphosis is it the same plant?

Yes the plant is the same, we call it Metamorphosa only as that's what the grower named it, and who are we to argue.

Can it be planted in full sun?

Yes Metampophosa will sit in the sun all day long.

Do I need special compost?

Not special as such but Acer always do better in acid soil or ericaceous compost.

Good for a pot on the patio?

Perfect!
