Pruning: Larger shrubs generally require little pruning, except for removing dead or damages leaves. Ideally prune just before the growing season starts in mid spring (after the frost has gone) so you do not remove the flowers/buds. If it is used as a hedge then can be trimmed to remove any out of place branches to keep its overall shape. If all green leaves appear, prune out the branch to keep the variegated leaf.
