Acer Pseudoplatanus Brilliantissium 7.5 Litre pot - 120cm stem: This beautiful colourful small sycamore tree is a true eye catcher with several colour changes throughout the seasons. Acer Brilliantissium starts the spring with salmon pink foliage this fades to pale yellow, autumn colour is green. The pictures were taken in May 2016, pink has faded and the plants now have summer colour. Whilst the name sycamore tree brings to mind something huge, fear not these trees will only achieve a height and spread at maturity of 3 metres x 3 metres, so a great choice for gardens with limited space. Acer Brilliantissium prefer a sunny or light shaded spot, in moist ground that is not to wet. In best circumstances Acers prefer an acidic soil if in doubt add some sulphur to the planting hole, this is the cheapest and easiest way, we do not recommend peat.

What to expect: Your Brilliiantissium tree will arrive planted in a 7.5 litre pot, it has a clear stem of 120cm, overall height inclusive of pot is approximately 140cm, the pictures were taken May 2016

Acer plants prefer Acid soil although this is not an aboslute necessity it will help the plant reach its full potential. If you have unsuccessfully tried to grow Azalea, Rhododendren, Pieris, Camellias the chances are your soil has a high lime content. Soil can be improved by adding Ericaceous compost to the planting hole this will lower the lime content and raise acid. If pot planted best choice is John Innes Ericaceous Compost this is a specially formulated sterilised loam based, lime free compost with essential foods for plants such as Acer Palmatum. Also in the coldest areas it may be advisable wrap the pots in a winter fleece or bubble wrap during the coldest months, this will help protect the roots. Repotting in fresh compost should be considered every 2 years. Ensure an adequate water supply and feed approximately every 6-8 weeks from early spring through to mid-summer
