Prunus Yedoensis Standard 200cm Stem Girth 10/12: Prunus yedoensis, commonly known as Yoshino cherry or Somei Yoshino, is a popular flowering cherry tree that is native to Japan. It is well-known for its spectacular display of delicate, pale pink to white blossoms that cover the tree in early spring.

Yoshino cherry is a deciduous tree that typically grows to heights in excess  of 6 metres  and has a rounded crown. Its flowers are single, meaning they have a single layer of petals, and they appear in clusters, creating a breathtaking sight when in full bloom. The blossoms are fragrant and attract bees and other pollinators.

The foliage of Prunus yedoensis is a fresh green colour and turns a vibrant yellow in autumn, adding another dimension of beauty to the tree. The leaves are oval-shaped and have serrated edges.

This cherry tree thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. It is relatively low-maintenance and can adapt to a range of soil conditions. Yoshino cherry is also known for its fast growth rate, making it a popular choice for landscaping and ornamental purposes.

Due to its stunning blossoms and graceful appearance, Prunus yedoensis is often planted in parks, gardens, and along streetscapes. It is also widely celebrated in Japan, where its blooming is cherished as a symbol of the arrival of spring and is often associated with cherry blossom festivals.
