Planting Position: Can be planted in full sun through to semi shade.
Soil: Will cope with most types of soil except heavy clay. Ideal scenario is Acid rather than lime.
Suitable for container planting: Yes will grow happily in a container. If this is your preferred planting method we recommend John Innes Ericaceous Mix
Eventual height and spread: Upto 1 metre high with an approximate spread of 1 metre.

Flowering Period: Not a plant known for its flowers but it does produce small pretty urn shaped white flowers in spring.

Evergreen: Yes, provides year round interest with new foliage giving a lovely contrast to the old, and becoming darker during the winter months.
Winter hardy: Yes will happily withstand temperatures of -15.
Although an extremely adaptable variety of Leucothoe, it does in ideal circumstances prefer an Acid soil. If you have tried growing Pieris, Camellia, Azalea, Rhododendron, and have not been successful the chances are your soil has a high lime content, this can be improved by loosening the soil at the bottom of the planting hole, and adding some ericaceous compost this will promote root growth. A general fertiliser with a seaweed content has proved highly successful in trials and is better applied via a liquid feed rather than granules. There is no special requirements for winter.
