Photinia robusta Compacta and Photinia Red Robin are two different cultivars of the Photinia plant, however there are some key differences.

2. Foliage Colour: Both cultivars have similar foliage colours. In spring, the new leaves emerge as bright red in both Photinia Robusta Compacta and Photinia Red Robin. As the leaves mature, they gradually turn dark green. The vibrant red colour of the new leaves is a distinctive feature of both cultivars, however the actual leaf size of Compacta is considerably smaller

3. Pruning: Due to its compact size, Photinia Robusta Compacta requires less frequent pruning compared to Photinia Red Robin. However, both cultivars benefit from regular pruning to maintain their shape and promote healthy growth.

4. Uses: Photinia Robusta Compacta is often used as a low hedge, border, or foundation plant. Due to its compact nature it can also be used in smaller gardens or containers. Photinia Red Robin, on the other hand, is widely used as a screening plant, hedge, or as a standalone specimen plant in larger landscapes.
