Prunus Kanzan Flowering Cherry Tree Full Standard - Trunk Height 200/220cm : Prunus Kanzan: 'Kanzan'. One of the classic Japanese flowering cherries - easily recognised by its large size, upright vase-shaped vigorous growth, and the mass of deep pink flowers. Not surprising It is one of the most popular ornamental cherry trees in the UK. Kanzan is a typical "double-flower", meaning the flowers have between 25-50 petals. The more petals the more intense the blossom will be, and this along with ease of growth and lack of maintenance required are perhaps the main reason for Kanzan's popularity, flowers can have 8-10 times more petals than the simpler single-flowered forms, giving it a much more profuse blossom display. The new leaves appear at the same time as the blossom, and are initially a coppery bronze colour. A relatively quick grower eventually reaching of approximately 8 metres, after 10 years approximately 4 metres

Q: When do these plants flower?
A: It depends on winter weather, in years where winter weather is classed as normal it will be approximately April.
Q: Are the suitable for pots in the long term?
A: Not really, certainly ok for a few years but in the long term ground planting would be beneficial.
Q: How long do the flowers last for?
A: Again it depends on the weather, because they flower so early in the season and the weather in April can sometimes unfortunately be somewhat unpredictable its hard to be exact, however you can on average expect flowering spells to last 3 to 4 weeks.
