Leucothoe Axillairs 'Curly Gold' 5 Litre - Highest Quality. Also known as Dog Hobble, weve all heard of Leucothoe Curly Redf and here we have its brand new sibling Leucothoe Curly Gold. Young foliage of Leucothoe Curly Gold is orange-red. As the leaf ages, this colour changes to golden yellow and then to golden yellow with green. Not only the colours of the leaves are beautiful, also the twisted foliage shape is very special. Curly Gold becomes about 60 cm high and 40 cm wide. This evergreen shrub grows well in moist acidic soil or in ericaceous compost for pots. The habit is dense and compact. Curly Gold is a beautiful plant for the garden, as an accent plant or for in pot on balcony or terrace.

Planting Position: Partial through to full shade.

Soil. Very adaptable plant will tolerate a wide range of well drained soils.

Suitable for container planting. Yes ideal for both ground and container.

Eventual height and spread: 120-150cm x 150cm wide.

Growth speed: Slow to medium, horizontal growth is quicker than vertical, making it an excellent choice for ground cover.

Growth Habit: Bushy, creeping

Flowering Period: Not really a flowering plant small inconspicuous white flowers, on new growth.

Pruning: Not necessary. Foliage: Deep green with red tips that turn to dark burgundy during autumn and winter. Has an almost crispy feel rather than the usual foliage of other Leucothoe varieties.

Evergreen. Yes this plant is one of a limited number of garden plants that looks equally as good if not better during the winter months.

Hardiness: Fully hardy -15

An extremely low maintenance plant that requires no special attention. Plant in a semi shaded spot in well drained damp soil. Prepare your hole by loosening the soil at the base of the hole to help root establishment, adding an organic compost will also help the plant get settled. Feed sparingly during the summer months to encourage winter colour change. If planted in a pot ensure a good water supply. This plant has no special requirements during the winter months.
