Platanus Acerifolia - London Plane Rooftop Trees. 220cm Stem Girth 16/18: P. x Hispanica is a beautiful, large deciduous tree with flaking grey and cream bark. Leaves are maple-like with a width of upto 20cm. Inconspicuous flowers are followed by clustered, burr-like fruit in Autumn and Winter. Frame trained rooftop trained trees with a frame size of 120cm x 120 quick to establish deciduous trees with an atttactive mottled bark that constantly rejuvenates itself through shedding. Unaffected by pollution its tolerant of city centre planting. Well drained soil moist soil and a nice sunny spot is recommended for this plant and whilst the roots are not invasive the root system is vigorous so ideally ensure its not planted in close proximity to to buildings ( ideally not within 25/30ft). Hardy to approximately -15 so under normal circumstances no winter protection will be required.
