Do you sell standard Red Robin trees?

Charella has a range of Red Robin trees for sale, all of which can help you to transform your space.

Red Robin trees are ideal for landscaping small outdoor spaces like front gardens as well as borders, or patio pots.

It is essential to choose plants that will not overpower the area.

Photinia x fraseri 'Louise' and Photinia serratifolia Crunchy are excellent options for these types of spaces due to their compact size.

Both trees are known for their unique foliage, 'Louise' boasts a variegated leaf pattern, while Crunchy has an atypical, undulated leaf texture.

These trees are perfect for adding visual interest to your small outdoor space.

Our Photinia trees are grown in pots, making them versatile and you can plant them at any time during the year.

They are known to be low maintenance and can adapt to a variety of soil types, but certain species may perform better in soil that is neutral and acidic.

Care and Maintenance

They thrive in both full sun and a small amount of shade, but it is best to place them in a protected location to shield young shoots from harsh winds and cold temperatures.

Cold, damp locations may lead to the following problems:

  • Environmental stresses  – late frosts and cold winds may shrivel or kill soft new shoots
  • Leaf spot – purple-brown spotting on foliage is a sign the plant is under stress, often due to cold, wet winters. Recently planted trees are particularly prone.
  • Yellowing leaves due to nutrient deficiency on alkaline soil – some species, including Photinia beauverdiana, need neutral or acidic soil

Any damaged foliage will fall away naturally in spring or early summer, sometimes with heavy leaf loss.

These are usually soon replaced, but plants may become thinner in the centre.

To restore, cut back some of the stems in early May/June to encourage younger, more leafy shoots.

Pests and diseases

Powdery mildew – a fungal disease that can appear as purple blotching on foliage

Fireblight – this bacterial disease causes shoots to shrivel and die. It can occasionally affect certain photinia species, including P. villosa and P. davidiana
