Large Viburnum Opulus 5 litre - Although Viburnum is a wonderful addition to any summer garden it comes alive in May and June when it produces masses of snowball size white flowers or white flowers with a pale hint of green. When flowering has finished the maple like green leaves are still an attractive feature, it continues being a feature well in late autumn when the leaves turn a reddish/bronze
Planting Position: Viburnum are best planted planted in a sunny through to a partially shaded area in well-drained moderately fertile moist soil, away from exposed windy sites.
Soil: Suitable for all types but does particularly well in humus rich
Suitable for container planting: Better suited to planting in borders or hedges.
Eventual height and spread: Up to 4 metres with a 4 metre spread
Growth Habit: Quick growing upright bush
Flowering Period: Produces masses of white flowers in May and June, hence the common name 'Snowball Tree'
Pruning: Light pruning can be done after flowering ends, will also tolerate hard renovative pruning this should be done early spring after the frosts and before new growth
Foliage: Bright green leaves with 3 to 5 lobes which turn reddish in Autumn, the masses of flowers it produces are white up to 6 or 7cm in width.
Evergreen: No Deciduous
Winter Hardy: Yes for the whole of the UK
Viburnum Roseum are a very low maintenance plant that requires very little attention, (pruning is not a necessity, but personal choice) it will benefit from a generous mulch of well rotted compost or manure around the base of the plant.
